Hey Guys,

Im contemplating on changing out my stock width axles on my 68 bronco to full width of a 78-79 full bronco.

Im basically looking for pro and cons. Most of my broncos use is in the sand dunes and an occasional pre-run/chase.

How much actual more travel will I get?

Do most of the old Broncos that run class 3 use these axles?

Thanks in advance.
Jason

I dont think you would actually gain any travel with these axles. You may gain articulation travel but not pure vertical. I think those axles are to wide to be legal in class 3 so most early bronco guys have housings made to the width limit. If you arent racing and dont mind the tires hanging out there it looks like a good way to gain some stability.

The Cervantes Bronco that races Laughlin (and a few other races, occasionally) runs the full width axles. They have the West Coast Bronco prerunner fenders to cover them in front. They're the only racers that I've seen using them.

As Moss noted, they might help with some stability at speed but other than that, no real benefits.
