Almost every promoter has a "Sportsman"-type class (and some promoters don't run Class 3 any more).

If we are showing up with our own side purse, nothing really stops us from running Sportsman/Safari (etc). We may be racing against other trucks of various and assorted types, but having our OWN race against ourselves primarily. I've seen everything from trophy-trucks to Winnebegos race this class (the bego didn't make it very far - ha ha).

The entry fee would be lower :), but there is no cash back from the promoter

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS? I know the MINT 400 is bringing back class 3, which is cool, but SNORE hasn't offered class 3 for years.

a) we can always lobby to make sure a pro-class 3 is added for us (BITD for example, screwed up it's class 3 rules and then pitched the class)

b) we could race sportsman, etc

c) we could race whatever pro-class they DO have, such as heavy metal but we might get stuck with the Class 8 guys

what sayeth you all?

Just a thought. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/humm_smilie.gif

But once we get the Class 3 Cup established & going I think we could get most promoters/Sanctioning bodies to bring back or add class 3 to their events.

Assuming that we get the numbers we've been talking about to race the C3C series, it would bring enough rigs to add class 3 would'nt it?

I'm sure most Promoters would happy to add Class 3 if they saw the interest in it. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/m2c.gif

Just remember that with some of the promoters when you run in the "Sprotsman" type class they only allow you to run minimal laps. I believe both MDR and M.O.R.E do this. You may pay less, but you also get less.

Good point about the miles, but SCORE does it to us with "pro" Class 3 anyway. Sometimes I'm happy (!), but look at Laughlin (33 miles each day).

Also, Cam you bring up a good point about the promoters, but one challenge that promoters face with these "coalitions", is that we will move around a lot. This makes planning tough (and frustrates them). You will see now that BITD (reportedly) requires you to run every race to have a shot at the champoinship. SNORE requires you to run at least 1/2. They don't like people jumping around.

Casey might be willing to give us class 3 if we show up with 10... but what will he say at the next race when we show up with zero, because we went somewhere else?

But what would Casey lose in that case?
We will be back..
I doubt it would hurt him allowing Class 3 & none show up?

I dont see the negative..
as long as Class 3 continues to grow it would pay off for all the promoters in the long run..

I suppose its like me running this site.
I hate starting up threads that just sit there & never get any attention. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif

I like the idea of trying a couple of different organizations to see how we fit. I think if we can make a good showing they would welcome us even for only one or two races. If we do go that route it may be better to run it seperately from there's as to avoid any conflict with others running the race.Just a thought.
