I know we had lots of Talk about Class 3's helping each other out at the Baja 1000.

Are any of you interested in Doing a class 3 Community Pits sorta thing?

Were we all share our plans & Location of our Pits?

Just a thought..

Heck I dont even know how many pit areas we'll have or if they'll allow chasing? http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif

Might any of you of heard more details on these things?

The SNORE pres Don says pitting is going to be pretty tight - it's one of the reasons they have to limit this to 325 entries (I'm not sure WHERE the pits are, or why this is the case???), but anyway...

He said if we let him know how many we have, he'd make sure we had a good-sized pit area set aside for us.

Bring warm clothes! (actually, I don't know what DATE they used but I stumbled across this pic, apparently taken by our own Todd Z at PJ's)

There will be 4 pits around the course. no chase or recovery. Driving on the course by pit will get the racer tossed out of the race. As of a few days ago there were 9 class 3's registered. I am O.K. with sharing pits, maybe we can man all 4

awesome!
Where are you getting this stuff? did they just update or did you call someone? I cannot even get anyone to confirm that I am ENTERED??

That is flippin excellent. Now we just have to break the 10 mark and it will be quite a race.

Please let me know where you got that, because I'm going to tweak the PR to indicate we are expecting 10 more at this race.

time to get in Raffo? Moss?

My bad, I mis typed there was 7 reg. not 9 sorry. Doesn't every team have a social butterfly? Our's is Roxanne, she calls everywhere on my toll free number including SNORE. A couple of other things she found out, 4 laps 104 miles each. Tech is thru and friday, you can only pass where the course is wide enough to do so without hitting vegitation. SNORE people will bring parts to your broken racer, you must get a pass for the pit to drive to your racer if it breaks. There are off course acc. roads to get to the pits but the BLM and police watch closely. You can (will) be disqualified if you pit makes the BLM unhappy and the speed limit is 25. Call roxanne if you want to know something and maybe she can find out for you.

If this is the Primm race course area, you don't WANT to get off the trail into the vegetation. There are either big rocks, or old sawed off power poles just off to the side.

lots of new info on pits... mostly on this thread:

http://www.race-dezert.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40212 (see page 9 or 10 for the maps of the main area).

Those that have raced Primm will know exactly where this is. I've never personally seen pits set up right there. I saw that area used once for a cowboy shooting competition (yee-ha), but that's about all.

Anyway, sadly there is a much faster road in, but we've never been allowed to use it (railroad underpass issues, I think). SO... you have go around the long way (through what is traditionally Primm Pit B area).

ALSO - I've requested someone from Snore possibly help us out by getting a few pits marked off side-by-side that we can share. "Lucas" sent me this today:

"hey ken i will be going out there thursday i can mark you off a spot"
lucas

I've said we need room for a few campers, trailers, etc. I know my motorhome will be there and Class 3 Cup people are welcome to come by and visit... It will be nice to have a place to get out of the wind, cold, heat, dirt, whatever Nevada throws at us.

I hope many of us can pit together, that would be very fun. I will have the motorhome there Wednesday night.

Anyway, those are the updates. Kinda weird that people were being coached to stay in Primm... but the race is actually near Jean and probably closer to Vegas - or at least Southpoint, etc. I guess the Herbsts' need our support more.

Hi guys,

Lucas from SNORE was cool enough to mark a main pit off for us.

Hey ken you are all set when you pull up you will be on the right hand side with red danger tape and orange ribbion tied to the rebar and poles you will see 2 green polls on each side of the road you are right by them you will be across and south of the lone kid guys.
lucas

(I hope he means "right side" when heading south - the non-dusty side of the course)!

I will be putting my motorhome there on Wednesday for it's last-ever trip to the races. It's a mostly white 36 Monaco with Idaho plates.

I will make this easy - and hang my home-made Robby Gordon number 7 flag high above the coach. I'll probably pull in the short-way into the pits, making room for more trailers and rigs.. or not :D

Seriously, it would be great to have as many C3's as are willing to pit together. After all, aren't we in this for the fun and com-rad-a-rie (however that is spelled!).

See you all there.

I plan on teching first thing Thursday morning so I can just ENJOY the rest of the Mint 400 and go find the Mint girls! ;) I'm looking for the next Linda Carter!

"Last ever trip to the races"???? We'll be looking for the RG flag. I think we are going to roll in late, late Thursday, and try to do it all Friday. We'll see how that works, we've already used up all our time off. We have a place to stay in Henderson. Gotta love having to go all the way out to Primm for the mandatory drivers meeting Friday night.
