I ask because I'd like to book my room now!
But if its gonna be at Primm, then thats where I'll get my room..
But if its actually in or just outside Vegas, I'll get my room there.

Yet, you dont have the answer huh?
From talking with Chuck's Social Butterfly, she spoke with Don at SNORE, Tech is in LV on Fremont Street and the race is at Primm.
Our rooms are at Whicky Pete's.

Do you guys know if it would be possible to just pitch a tent and camp out somewhere in the desert? Would you recommend it? If any one has a lead on where to get info I would really apreciate it.

Well The Race Course is at Primm it turns out. & I doubt the BLM will allow you to camp out in the desert there...
But at SCORE's Primm race I did see lots of people camping in the parking lots..
No tents mind you but Campers & trucks & such.

I've never been to Primm and I guess the best thing to do is just get a room. Hope they're not all booked up. Thanks Blanco.

If it is like the SCORE races at Primm, the desert is wide open the rest of the year, but they close it down for the races, with a couple dozen BLM officers on hand. There are people that camp in the designated pit areas. Room prices are usually pretty reasonable, cheaper over at Whiskey Pete's.

It is my opinion, with all the pre-race activities taking place in Vegas, and knowing that mid-week rooms are dirt cheap, and knowing that Primm is 40 miles away, plus traffic to get to the freeway, plus freeway traffic, you would be crazy to stay anyplace but downtown Vegas. If you want to near the race, perhaps friday night and saturday, that is understandable, but I do think, knowing that the El Cortez is sold out... most of the racers and spectators will be downtown. That is what this race has always been about.
Camping might be an option in the pits... but that would be it. I'm not 100% sure where the pits will be - it may be on the dirty and dusty lake-bed, or maybe just on the approach road into the lake bed, as with Score in other years... tough to say.

Wouldn't the traffic and distance be a downside to staying in Vegas or am I reading that wrong. Where would you be able to park a trailered race truck safeley in Vegas? Where is the actual starting line?

Because two days of activities are occurring downtown, you would be driving 40 plus miles to town and back thursday and friday. Plus... we will be having a Class 3 Cup meeting at a local tavern, as soon as I get one to commit to kicking in some Class 3 Cup money. It will be good to squeeze that in so we can discuss some things and meet everyone! I need to see the schedule first.
You ask a great question about the trailer and truck. As with Mexico, or even Primm for that matter, you can't leave ANYTHING in the trucks. Several casinos have large enough parking lots... Obviously a lot of other racers are going to have that same challenge though. No doubt Primm will have more room for that. I know the Main Street Station (downtown) has a LARGE lot, and a security tower that is manned. You would have to clear parking with them up front, however. It would be walking distance to all the stuff, for sure.
Anyway, that is my two cents. I think Friday night and Sat. would be good ones to stay at Primm. I can't argue that. All three Primm casinos are owned by the Herbsts, so it doesn't matter where you stay really. It all supports their cause - ha ha.

We have our rooms at Whiskey Pete's for all of the time we will be there. I only want to go to Vegas long enough to tech my racer. From what we've been told you don't have to be there both days thur & Fri. If we have to drive back for the drivers meeting somewhere on Friday that's fine. Quick in and out for the meeting.
As for other activities, I didn't loose anything there so would just as soon not go at all if, I didn't have to. I've spent way to much time there on business to want to spend anytime there, of my own, if I can help it.

How about in Andy's backyard?
I can promise, between Andy's and my GG's we would find a place for a tent, for you and anyone else. For mid-week though, you'd be crazy NOT to look into a room in Vegas. 39 bucks is often the going rate for Sun-Thursday.
I do have access to a very safe parking spot 4 miles from the strip, where we could lock every damn race rig up. It's my aunt's place. They have dogs and a locking gate.
I used to keep my RV there. Can't believe I just thought of it. For a couple of Class 3 Cup shirts we would be golden!!
I will do whatever I can to make sure everyone feels safe and accounted for!!!

Quick in and out for the meeting.
Dan
I will keep that in mind - I'd like to gather us all together for an hour or so for C3Cup meeting. I will plan on that in very close order to the rest of the activities... or do it in Primm.
