I am looking at the back brace that moser and currie sell for the 9". Have any of you guys done this before? My biggest concern is keeping the axle from bending due to welding. I was thinking about fixing the axle to something big like an I-beam to hold it straight.
What do you guys think?

weld in small areas changing from side to side. don't get in a hurry. Let things cool down frequently and it will be fine.

We have done it both ways, doesn't seem to matter, if you use the method above. There are some pictures of the fixture we used for the front axle somewhere on this site. After some race miles, it is all over the place anyway, the axles take some serious abuse. Just use some heavy paper or cardboard to make a pattern. The Alston version I have seen was short, made of pretty light material and was kind of pricey.

I think its under $100.00 to straighten your housing after your done... If you wanna be sure about it.
Or yeah, just take all day weld a little at a time .
Heat is your enemy in this case. http://thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif
