How much plunge are you dealing with. Short drive shafts and leafs and long travel usually mean lots of plunge.

Has there been an issue with broken t-cases because of this?

From what we can tell, ours move about 3 to 4 inches. Raffo has more horror stories about broken stuff and carnage due to this than he can remember.

Ours is five inches. The only time we broke a transfer case because of the driveshaft was the very first Baja 1000 we raced. It didn't happen until a couple of hundred miles into the race. It was just a touch long. Take your time and get it right. Strip the spring pack down to the main leaf and make a spacer block to fill in the difference. It's just to hard to try to effectively cycle the suspension with the full pack. Although we've only lost a tranfer case the to the driveshaft once, we have had the front driveshaft cause us couple of DNF's. Once, while leading Primm, after a high speed section, the shaft came off and took of the corner of the trans. Last year at Laughlin, while leading, it came off at the transfer case, but not at the diff. And me being boy genius, had taken all of the tools out of the truck with the exception of a big cresent wrench, so we couldn't get the thing off and the course workers thought it was unfair to let me use their lousy 1/2" wrench.

This was our biggest hurdle to overcome, we punched a couple of transfercases out the back racing even after taking careful measurements. check and check again and find a shop who will work and understand what you need.good luck tim

So, it sounds like most of the problems have been from either the shaft pulling apart, or bottoming out?

I can understand these problems, and I've delt with a few like this myself.

I have been using 6states here in UT. for my drive shafts for a few years. They have made me a couple of 12" slip units for my crawler and they have been great for that aplication.

DO you think you have had problems due to torque bind on the splines? Right now that is my biggest worry, I supose the whopping 200 lb ft my motor makes shouldn't be a problem

OK, back to the shop. I will race this thing this year! I think I can, I think I can, I think I can.

Be careful, do not use a rockcrawler shaft/implement shaft for your race truck, it will not hold up for the race, not enough contact points on the low count spline shafts

My shafts do not use implement parts. They are made from spicer parts.

I think Jesse at high angle builds his in a similar fashion.

I have been using a toyota double cardigan on the case and 1310 at the diff. I will probably step up to 1350 size joints for this drive shaft.

I'm using 1310's as well with the exception of the rear end which is a 1350.

hi angle has been having issues with their shafts in sandcars. axles not plunging under load causing major tranny damage and also chassis damage.

Its apples and oranges, Jesse's half shafts are a whole different deal.
His driveshafts are well proven in many different forms of motorsport.
