The Battle at Primm was huge. Many people I spoke to only entered that race to hold a spot for the MINT 400. I think 280 showed up or semething?
Let me tell ya, 30 cars in the pre-runner class was awesome. I'd like to them seem stick some sort of "max wheel travel" limit on that class. One truck was class 8 or TT material, racing against some trucks that look they just came off the showroom floor. Not real fair, but fun to wach.
IF YOU ARE GOING TO ENTER THE MINT 400 YOU NEED TO DO IT NOW, before the few remaining spots are taken. Good luck getting confirmation that you have entered....

good luck! I still cannot get an entry list or "number of class 3 cars entered".

I agree totally... the only way he could have that number, I guess... was to include his jeepspeed vehicle number on the form. They ask for vehicle numbers, but most of us are used to leaving it blank, and waiting for the "assignment". I checked BAP and he didn't race the first SNORE race.
interesting. I hope their are more!!

When is the Pre-Run day? http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif
I just received a call from SNORE about the 2008 Mint 400 pre run date and time, Pre Run is set for Friday March 28th, It will be a 1 lap 100 mile pre run, The start time is 7:00am - 9:00am, There will be a pace rig to follow and there is a 25MPH speed limit , Iam looking forward to this 1 time lap, The pre run is open to any vehicle, No bikes or quads, So i will be able to take my Vintage Race truck that last ran the Mint in 1969 and put it in the dirt again:eek:

Thats great news......
I hate the lack of info though....
I just figured that the Pre-Run was gonna be the week before & that ment I could'nt do it.
So I was gonna just take the Mustang. (saving me lots of fuel cost)
& now it changed again.
So I guess I'll be take the Bronco again. :)
Looking forward to this. http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/spaz_smilie.gif

I tracked down Cliff Coleman, He was the driver for Vic Hickey when they race the truck in 1969, My plans are on the pre run day in Primm line is to line up my truck with Cliff Coleman driving next to the Baja Boot another Race car built by Vic Hickey, A friend Bob Law now own the restored Baja Boot and he said he would put it on the track again, Let the flag drop It will be like 1969 all over again

Iam down to a few things left to do on getting the #40 truck ready for the Mint, I hope to take it on the track, On of the main things i was missing from the race days was the two 25 gallon fuel cells in the bed of the truck, So i went by some photos i had and some of the drill and fuel holes in the bed floor and recreated the original fuel tanks, I had to make them from scratch but i think iam close, I know they are not from fuel Safe but for Vintage show they should work, And if i try to do the full 100 mile Pre Run lap in Primm i will have 50 gallons of fuel on board:D

Actually I'd love to be 1st off the line. :)
That way we can stop at good spot for Pics ahead of the other behind us.

Pre running does not mean race! Its there to let the teams racing get a good view of the course and to make notes for the race. I believe that there is a speed limit of 25mph for this and breaking this rule can get your team disqualified or worse someone hurt, so please be careful. Thanks tim

Yeah theres suppose to be a pace car leading the pack, in attempts to make sure nobodys haulin ass through the course..
But 25 MPH will be sorta fas through parts of this course.
I just realized something, A 100 mile loop at 25 MPH?
Thats a 4 hours pre-run if you ran the whole course at 25 MPH.
Better make sure to bring enough food & drink for this all day run..

The speed limit is set at 25 MPH, Iam glad there is a speed limit, If there was not i would not take my truck out there The last thing i want to do is hurt my truck, Iam only doing it for photo shoots and i thought it would be cool to let Cliff Coleman get in the truck again sence he last drove the truck there in 1969, It will be a fun and safe day, And i do not even know if i will do the full 100 miles, I will see what the condition is like, as long as i dont hurt the body its cool, I do not care what i do to the running gear, I can fix that, i cannot replace the original body condition

Hi all! :)
I think maybe there was a bit of a misunderstanding about the posts from Cam and me. Here are a couple of thoughts.
a) Ideally, I want to get an early start due to all the activities back in Vegas, if possible. We won't be racing or really going fast.
b) The 25 mph is a great idea, but the guy that leaves 1 hour later can pretty much haul butt - which I'm not saying is good - I've just pre-run 100 times and seen this over and over. Not much anyone can do about it. If your pre-runner is a trophy truck (basically), you probably won't see that guy going 25, especially if he leaves at 9:00 for a 7:00 pre-run.
b) Cam wanting to leave early was so that he can pull over somewhere and take pictures of Broncos, jeeps, take in the sights, etc. As he said though, 25mph is a 4 hour run - without any screwing around!
c) Ron, hope you didn't take any offense by anything we said. I think it will be awesome to see your trucks out there. I didn't mean to imply you would be hauling butt or that your truck wasn't capable. That is the fun about e-mail/threads... one person reads it and misinterprets what the other is saying. I've ridden with Cam before, I don't think he can GO over 25 mph! HA HA HA. Seriously though, he did a great job getting us around Primm with no broken parts. Hoping for the same this time!

No need to go pushing it & getting stuck out there most of the day without actually getting to see the course.

Please don't get me wrong, it's just that we have prerun before where we got hit by a guy who thought it was a race while we were making course notes. Its just a good excuse to go and have a nice ride and pack a lunch and enjoy the scenery. Please go out and make some great photos and hope to meet up with you guys! Thanks Tim

So who is #307 Michael DeHaas?
He is owner/CEO of KC Hilites. I guess that rules out you riding with him eh. I noticed KC on more rigs at San Felipe, thats good.

I see some good racing brewing. The FJ is back.
You guys bringing Class 3 shirts to the Mint? Like to hook up with mine if possible? Staying at Whiskey petes, but will be with the 304 bronco at contingency.
Thanks, Greg

The FJ has been in Michael's hands for a while, but I gather he was looking for someone for race help, driving, prep, etc. That is where Mongo Racing/Randy Merrit come into play. Perhaps Michael just wanted to be listed as D.O.Record - hence the change. Same car, just different "drivers".

Class 3: (7)
#301 Gale Pike
#302 Donald Moss
#303 Dan Wright (reportedly can't make it?)
#304 Charles Atkinson
#306 Ken Leavitt
#307 Michael DeHaas (leaves the line alone).
#308 Gerardo Barragan (told me he can't make it).
GUESS WE LOST THE JEEPSPEED?
Anyway, that would be the side-by-side pairing as it would be today.
Sadly, that puts us back to 5? That sucks.

All,
My apologies for not being at the race, and the lack of communications lately.
Unfortunately, for me, while you guys are teching and racing I will be spending the last 3 days of this week being deposed and need to be available for the next two weeks following for follow up. All construction related issues.
The only thing they found on my computer after having it for the last three weeks, and copying and printing 70gigs of information that were not work related, were maps, race files of race courses, pictures of racing broncos and bronco outings. Which was about 25 gigs of what was there. It fits nicely in 8 large binders. My only regret is they didn't use photo quality paper. : )
I have my computer back now and if you have sent e-mails to me in the last few weeks, I should be getting them with a couple thousand others over the next few days. I haven't dealt with anything that wasn't related to work for a few weeks.
I hope everyone has a great race.
Ken I’ll get my sponsorship money sent to you.
Dan
