Hi again!
This is a somewhat fun topic, so I'm throwing it out for everyone.
At the end of the day, I might just over-ride you weaners anyway, he he, but I'm curious what you think.
Regardless of what a promoter does, I plan on having Class 3 Cup awards.
do you like traditional trophies, plaques, or engraved clear ceramic looking things. For those that do not know, most of the promoters are sticking with plaques. I think they are easier to transport, perhaps cheaper, etc.
I will try to put up a thumbnail of each.

I should have specified - the year-end trophy will certainly be a cup - a nice one. I originally thought we would pass it along, but in thinking more about this, and looking at the cost, I think each year we do this, the previous winner would be somewhere on the Cup. So, in 2009, the name Ken Leavitt would appear somewhere on your Cup trophy Tim. :D

kinda funny i was thinking the Class 3 Cup needs to have a revolving trophy cup of some sorts to go along with the season points championship..my thoughts was a Silver cup perched above a large 3 made of some exotic material or copper /brass /bronze maybe aluminuman /Titanium a base that could be engraved with the champs name and year the base would have to be such that it could be added to in future years when the original base gets filled...I will volinteer my time to help produce a cup or a part of it (i have many years of prototype Machining experience)and would like to help....

That is a great idea! just make sure to leave enough room on the bottom of the cup for ken as my name will likely fill the front....Ha..Ha... thanks tim

Having a very unique, but not junk-yard-looking cup would be cool. In the event the "primary cup" were passed on over the years, it would be pretty affordable to give the "passer-on-er" a replacement cup for the year he earned it. In otherwords, Raffo keeps the cup for one year, but when he gives it over to Tim Wiley (:D), he receives a more normal "cup", but still a nice one for his efforts. I wonder what the hockey boys get once the old dented-up Stanley Cup is passed on... do they just have a blank spot in the trophy room? I doubt it.
Nice trophies actually seem pretty reasonable to me (as far as price). I'm not talking solid gold. They do a good job with fakie materials such as pewter and plastic that LOOK good. After all, my trophies will be under lock and key. If you ask real nice, I might let you touch them (supervised, of course!)
I do like your idea - "the cup above the 3"... and a base that can have room for previous champions... maybe 10 or so. After that, God-willing, we will all be smarter and spending our money at the Olympic Garden in Vegas. Catheryn, you can go upstairs where the boys dance!!
ken (oh... and Rocketman - consider yourself volunteered to play around a little). I'd sketch and play with some things before spending a ton of time. I'd hate to hurt anyone's feelings who spent 80 hours on something that we thought looked like my welding! inside joke!
Last thought. Given what I have seen with sponsor input for the Class 3 Cup, it could be very feasible that we find one sponsor each race to pay for the trophies, and be well-publicized for that effort! I have a few on the fence who can do something in the near future.
Right now my plan is to have an in-car camera donated as a raffle prize for entrants into the mint!! no - not the Micron system. something similar to what Moss used, but free to the winner of the drawing! Oh, and every entry receives two 2008 Mint 400 / Class 3 Cup engraved mugs as well. These will be available for purchase by others, with all proceeds going back to the Cup!
fun fun fun!
