what do most of you do before a race?

I'm worried about a few issues before the Mint400.
like what if I have to Piss or Crap. :o

do most of you stick to certian diets in attempts to prevent this?
& what about motion sickness or kidney belts etc etc...

I read in Bronco Driver that John took a combo of Advil & Dramamine to cure his ill's.

what do most of you do if anything?

I figure as a driver & being in control, your not as likely to get motion sickness.
But Co-dog's trying to focus on a GPS screen & gauges & mirrors etc etc...
that it may have some issues?

either way being the MINT is my 1st ever adventure at this, I'm looking for some friendly advice. :o

Eat light and drink plenty of water the day before the race.
Always wear a kidney belt, buy a good one made for racing from PCI don't try to get by with a Home Depot back support/kidney belt.
I take Advil/Ibuprofen before the race it makes a big difference, for Co-Dog I think Dramamine is a good idea, I have had more than one rider get car sick during a race.
Wear a catheter during the race.

1. Hydrate on gatorade or pedialyte the day before the race

2. Get a good night's sleep the night before the race (no partying)

3. Stay away from caffeine the morning of the race (it's a diuretic)

4. Eat small meals of quality food throughout race day (no junk food)

actually, I started to experiment already & focusing on NUTS.
Almonds, pecans, cashews, etc..... & those seem to be helping big time as for what I could eat & not have to go. :o

don't listen to them, just grab a six pack of your favorite beer and drink it, one six the day before and a six during the race, haha, just kidding, non alcohol drinks on that week, and everything this guys are saying,. haha, have fun, :D.

Tortas, Tacos & Tostadas are ok, but stay away from the hot salsa and the jalapeņos or any spicy food that can irritate your stomach.
2 aspirins or better yet advils (they wont upset your stomach) before the start is the best advise someone gave to me, they will help you relax your muscles and you wont be to sore the morning after.
Don't drink any liquids at least two hour before the start, once your in the car, your mouth will let you now when its time to take a few sips.
Just before you get in the car, stretch your limbs, try to push and pull your car, walk a few car in front and some in the back and do a few reps of nodding your head (yes, no, side to side and all around) with the helmet on, you will thank me sunday morning for this last advice.

Seeing suggestions of NOT drinking fluids before a race or HARDLY any during a race is disturbing. You need to be FRESH, ALERT, and ON TOP OF YOUR GAME! Dehydrating yourself (greatly limiting your fluids) is not good advice. Wear the catheter and stay hydrated= staying more alert and on your game! ......also, in reality, if you wait to drink water until your mouth is dry, you've already waited to long. Takes sips every so often (IF YOU CAN REMEMEBER), weather you are thirsty or not.

FOOD: A good, healthy diet year round will pay off greatly for racing. It can make you regular if you know what I mean...... 6am every day for me....7am at the very latest. :) As FJ said, pre race warm up, stretching is important. Add to that a regular workout/cardio regime year round to add to your race readiness.

Also, be careful with Gatoraide type stuff. Most of it is sugar (not good). Studies have shown that even triathaletes and marathon runners drink too much of the stuff. It has TOO MUCH electolyte replacements for what most everyone will actually burn. Gatoraide type stuff should be mimimal IF ANY!

We'll I thought since I posted this very worried about how my Old mans system treats me. :o

I'd let you know how it went.

I Did party some, the night before But not too much.
Them my Buddy Locopny( Screen name ) checked in & wanted to visit, as I did with him, being he's moving to ND & I may not get to many chances to see him again. :o

So I was up with him till about 1am....
Then went right to bed & then I showed up to the main pits at 6am'ish & the whole main pit area seemed like a ghost town..... Lots of motorhomes & trailes Etc etc.....
But no people walking around .
But by about 7:30'ish things started to change.

Anyways to make a long story short.....
I tried to cut down on most fluids & simply drank a wee bit of water & tea..
& had no breakfast...

To be honest I seem to have issues ( if you have not already realized this, Getting old sucks.. :o )

But either way I did fine & had no Issues...
I must admit maybe up to a week before this I was sorta nervous about it. ( I not a very good at being a passenger while riding around town & will always prefer to be the driver. )

But that Morning I was very excited & ready to go! http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/spaz_smilie.gif

The nervous'ness I felt, was replaced by egar excitement!

I rode Laps 2 & 3 & must say I was Very impressed with both Kens Bronco & his driving skill in picking smooth lines etc... :)
