Does this go for SNORE, MDR, MORE, and all the other races class 3 can participate in? Are hydraulic bump stops allowed?

Hydraulic bumps are allowed in SCORE. Not sure of travel restrictions or bumps in other sanctions

BITD had a 15 inch front travel limit in class 3000, however they don't have the class anymore. If we were to go there, I would hope they would adopt the class 3 rules.

when john swift ran his class 3 explorer in bitd, he had quite a bit a travel definitely more than 15", making it impossible to keep up with in our blazer

At one point in the 90's SCORE had a travel limit in Class 3 at 15" for the pros and I believe it was 12" for the Sportsman.

Who is in favor of a front wheel travel limit???? Say 15"

No restrictions. Drive shafts will take care of it. Even if you go crazy and figure out a way to get 24" I feel the short wheelbase will become your limiting factor as to how fast you can go.

I think that we have enough rules as is. Width and wheel base rules pretty much limit travel. We should enforce the rules we have.

Where in the world have I heard this before?
Haha
The Swift Explorer was not 4 wheel drive. Lots of travel + light weight = fast.

I agree that that lots of travel + light weight = fast. What I was trying to say was I don't think a bronco with 22" of travel will be a whole lot faster than a bronco pulling 16"
It actually does not really even matter, seeing as how nothing seems to be as fast as an old straightaxle bronco. ;)

In spite of my playing around, there is a reason that both SCORE and BITD thought it was appropriate to institute a limit.

In all seriousness, I would say unless it is a problem don't introduce more rules.
Raffo, I would rather see them allow you to run coilovers on your truck than to limit travel.
Class 3 travel is limited to 15", according to Best in the Desert, and that's it! Any questions? Class 3 is what it is, and that is all it will ever be.

Only two question. When did you or anyone else race class 3 in BITD? What other organizations follow BITD rules?

MDR never bothered asking us or checking what we had going & IIRC they claim to follow SCORE's rules.

BITD does not even have class 3 any more, so where are you seeing that?? Last year they gave our numbers to those little toy-trucks... or 3-thousand and something. IMO... Casey is grumpy because of all the flack he got for allowing Swift to run a 2x4 explorer (one of the very first trophy trucks) in Class 3... in an "attempt to grow the class". Yea right. I like Casey a lot, but that was a bad move. It was a total joke. I went to nearly every race that year (spectating). He was beating the few other guys that tried to run by 6 hours sometimes. So where was the 15 inches then? We aren't talking that long ago.
So here we are - no class 3 in BITD... and MDR doesn't have their own rule book. I don't care either way, I have less travel than most FSB's. I choose to limit things a bit rather than push the issue with drive-lines and front axle u-joints.
