FOR US, mm, don't know, i already did a small list with things needed for us to be able to race..
to start..
new helmets, sa05 rated helmets, the other already expired to be able to race with score, ..the new ones, from $350 and up, each,.
new gps unit,. ours was stolen,. $500
a reliable tranny, ??? that's up to juanco,. hope he finds the problem and solvet for good. $0 still under guarantee,. hhaha,.
my bro already bought a new radiator, we will go back to basic, stock fan, not electrical fan, , faulty relay combined with not to powerfull fan, it was turning on just when it want it to, haha, DONE
need to build a new rear differential, the old one still works, just need to figure out what went wrong with the oil seal that blew out at san felipe,. we believe that the vent got cloged and the internal pressure pushed the oil seal out, because there is no axle play, .,. will see.
need to rebuild all the shocks,. too much whoops, leaking problems,.
and a few $k's of dlls for everything else
and the biggest of all,. I'M GOING TO BE DAD FOR THE SECOND TIME,. :D:D:D
that means, no money for racing this year,. from me,.
so, that's how it looks right now,. maybe no baja 500 for us,. maybe some CODE or RECORD for us, and wait for the BAJA 1000, this time will be from ensenada to ensenada,? right?
HOW ABOUT YOU??

Don't abandon your electric fans because of bad relays or switches. All it takes is a 75amp push-pull switch from NAPA. They cost about $15-18 each. Wired direct, no relay.
I'm hoping to do the Baja 500 this June. I would love to have the help of your team if you're not racing. Good luck in the fatherhood dept. and enjoy yourself.

thks on the fatherhood area, haha, can't wait to see my new baby, haha, but well,
what pros have you found about the elcetric fans, i mean, why you tell me to not to abandon the electric fans. i found many pros thats why we have or used to have electric fan,., but how about you?

I have had good luck with my electric fans. I'm embarassed to say that I have been running the same fans since the truck was built in 98' and they were four or five years old when I got them. I will be running new ones for my next races.

since we swap from mech to electric, we have suffer of overheating problems, besides san felipe, on the other races temp reached max temp of 220, so, no big deal, you can say that was normal,. but you dont want to race at those temps, not when entering the desert, , but well, the other point is that we now have the transcooler fan, that one is a 2500cfm, almost 20amps, works awsome with the c4, max temp allowed by the transcooler was 180, and the lowest 150, we want to take some load out of the alternator, save some amps for other things, . basically that's why we are switching back to mech fan. :D

Yep, the power has to come from somewhere! It sounds like the electric fans were undersized, that happens often. When you start pulling 30, 40, 50 amps from the alternator just for fans, it does not leave much for other loads, and puts a huge continuous strain on the alternator. You also have the efficiency losses of changing the mechanical energy into electrical energy (alternator) and then back to mechanical (fan). That trans cooler you have will cool a small industrial plant! The pictures you had posted don't do it justice, it is very impressive in person! That's a well engineered unit, the fan is matched to the size of the exchanger. If that is a 2500 cfm fan there, you probably need 10,000 cfm for the radiator.

now imagine a "10,000 cfm" fan, how many amps out of it,:eek:, not a reliable thing to have, right, so, the main problem i think is that we had a stock radiator for the engine, my bro just bought a new one at least the big one found stock for that kind of explorer, so, better radiator with mech fan, i want to believe that overheating problems wont occur again, and will be saving some amps for the rest,. to have overheating problems at the middle of the desert, and no water all around,:eek: it's a scary thing, been there, done that, so, no more, never again.
