As far as bronco II's - we're a rare breed:cool:

But there are quite a few explorers being built. Of course the 4 door is too long but if your just after some ideas here's some good stuff for you to check out.

some of those exploders are clean... hey pig, what did the BW1350 T-case come out of? and the C5 is what a 3 spd? Overdrive?

im curious because the A4LD trans in my 86 B2 is junk. it does ok but it doesnt take much abuse... reccomendations on a swap??

The c5's just a 3-speed. It's pretty much a c4 with a few internal differences.

I got both the tranny and t-case out of an 84 bronco II at a junk yard. Best part was all I needed and wanted was the bell housing and few other misc parts for the swap and yet I ended up with the whole deal for $100:D

No I'm in North county now: Vista....
I grew up in the Kearny/clairmont area.

I found that deal at some little junk yard in the down town area though. This was about 5 years ago however.

Bobby at Solo Motorsports in Azusa has probably one of the nicest Bronco II prerunners that I have ever seen. I need to dig up a picture of it.

I've got these ones. This truck is my inspiration. Ever since I saw it I fell in love with it.

I've only ever seen a single pic of both of those, so it's nice to see some more.

Most likely. I don't think I have run across any others. Believe me I've been looking.

sweet. you should leave the fenders until you make the molds. then cut them. Home Depot sells a expanding foam called great stuff, it takes 2 cans to make the base mold. and the foam is cheap.. you should try it out...

I've got some thick white foam I plan to use. I'll use the expanding foam to seal up the larger gaps/glue it all together.

that'll work too...I found if you dont have the releasing agent for the mold, "armor all" will work, not as well but if you blow compressed air through the mold it pops off. use a slow curing resin when you glass it though...

Could do that or get yourself some 3M spray adhesive and bond foil over the foam. Drywall compound works well too. You can then smooth it out nice and get a good finish. Couple coats of laytex paint and your good to go. I've done foam molds before and I've seen them done countless times.

Ive used the drywall compound before and it works well, If your making one mold. But 3M with foil? like aluminum foil? wth? Ive never heard of that one. whats the latex for? to release the mold or what?

Ya the laytex paint will fill in any of the smaller holes and peals off like skin after you wash the part to remove the drywall compound. We use this combo at work when making prototype intake ducts.

The aluminum foil will keep the foam from melting when the resin cures. and is also pretty easy to remove off the part.

dang, thats a new one for me. I understand the latex but the aluminum doesnt seem like it would produce a smooth finish. or do you put the compound and paint on top of the foil?

OH, btw I just got back from the 500, we came in 2nd. 1st place went to #700 and he was like 5 or 6 hours ahead of us... I saw the Moss Bro's Bronco at contingency but never saw them on race day. Anyone have any info on that?

The foil acts as a barrier to protect the foam from melting with the heat the curing resin produces.

There is some finishing work that will need to be done if you plan to make a mold for the part. Personally I'd just finish the outside of the part and leave it at that. but if your going to be racing then a mold may be in your best interest, as you could pop out another panel pretty quick.

I may leave the foam in mine. it should give the fenders a bit more support. Not like it's going to weigh a ton.

yeah, it would be a good sound deadener as well. If you leave the foam in, try an epoxy resin. I use it on my surfboard concepts and I love the stuff, its extremely strong and holds up to alot of abuse.

well, just woke up after getting back from the code race yesterday. The race itself was saturday, I saw chupas out there running 7s, talked to him afterwards and he took second, my buddy pete mercado from ALPA racing took 3rd in 7s, another buddy of mine, Kyle Bonamo, took second in 1800. which is huge for him because this was his second race since we rebuilt the truck and his first race down south. He had no prior experience in racing so you cant imagine how well that truck is built... Anyhow, we rolled our truck at like mile 4, there was a freakin boulder right on the inside of the second hard right turn after pit row, we clipped it on the inside of the passenger side front tire and the truck just went into a barrel roll...we were all fine but once we got the truck back over it started running like crap and we bent an axle again, so we pulled out of the race at the road crossing... alright, just figured Id give you an update, Im going back to sleep...
