How many class 3 entries will we have at V2R?
Itīs the second race for the CLASS 3 CUP, and if the MINT was an indicator, there will be more than a few 3īs racing in the Nevada desert.

Of course being I dont have my own race truck,
I'm at the mercy of people that will let me co-drive...
& Ken dont sound all that secure on us racing this one. :o
Anyone else need a Co-driver? http://www.thewebwheeler.com/forums/images/smilies/shrug.gif
WCBA Racing won't be making the V2R race, I have an event in Oregon that I go to every year, that is on the same weekend.
We'll be at Primm and the 1000.

Come on, Dan, we both went to SOB last year - this year it's time to hit V2R again :).

Todd, I have been to SOB every year for the last 7 yrs. How can you beat 200+ early broncos, my camp spaces turn into the local pit for everything that needs fixed. We are up for more than 36 hrs at any one time between Tuesday and Sunday. I actually get to drive all my broncos at least once. My buddies or one of my family members wreck at least one of my broncos. Almost everyone on my race and support team is there any way.
Entry fee is 2 can on vegatables.
Sound like everything I would get out of a race with out ever getting more than 1 mile away from where I started. Without having to pay all of the added fees. Logistics, transport and repair cost are about the same though.
Oh the other upside is it will only be about 60 instead of 100+ on the heat scale.

I see Tazz, at SOB if you break a rig, you can just climb in a new one, unlike in a desert race. Makes sense to me.
Have wanted to make SOB for years, but volunteered as a course official for the V2R since it's in my backyard.
Keep me in the loop on Primm plans. See ya,
Greg

All good points, Dan, and those reasons are just a few of the many why I was there last year (and several other years as well). As you may recall, we spent some good times in your "pit" at the campground last year with you.
Haven't been to V2R for a couple of years so I'll be heading out to the race this year. Keep mixin' things up...

Yes we did, and once again many thanks. Actually the first year I spent working on my own stuff more in my "pit" than others. We usually rebuild at least one bronco for some one while we're there.
It hit me last night while making my shopping list, where would all of the starving homeless bronco owners go if our group didn't show up. It's almost a tradition now with my standing offer to the bronco community, walk, fly or drive to SOB with or without your EB and I'll make sure I have enough food so you can eat and place to throw your bag down.
Last year I was cooking breakfast for about 30 every morning and Mike bbq'd for about the same count every night. I had to upgrade from 3 to 5 burners on the camp stoves just to keep up and stay respectable on the delivery time. :)

Ya, sorry guys, but there is no way I can make this race. I really want to, but can't. I'm sending a note to the Class 3 Cup Board of Directors to see how they want to handle it, who might be racing, etc.
Ken
PS: I will create a press-release for the Class 3 Cup after this is discussed. The "cup" is alive and well, but times are tough for racers and when "disposable income" takes a hit, racing can be one of the first (expensive) things to go. I don't pray much, but if I did, I'd hope for either my own personal oil well or at least lower gas prices for all).

Well? I saw a couple of entries in class 3100. Is that class 3 in BITD? Ken say's the class 3 cup is alive and well but it looks like it better get a bed in the intensive care unit and be put on life support.

 Well...
The Vegas to Reno seemed to make sense at the time: I knew team Moss would be there, the Pikes love the NV desert, I assumed I could make it and we could drag some others out as well. In hindsight, there are a few reasons this might not be a great race to have as the 2nd race in the Cup:
1) It's a long and very logistically challenging race (point-to-point for around 500 miles, ending in the middle of the night at a place where there are few hotels - outside of Reno).
2) The cost of any point-to-race is higher, with at least a couple of teams leap-frogging all the way to Northern NV... and how about that price of gas? Did I mention the economy has affected a number of us?
3) There are no racers we would "inherit" by going there... meaning nobody is racing Class 3 in BITD (it doesn't exist). Casey gave the 3100 numbers to some other class.. I think those mini-spec. toys (I mean trucks).
4) BITD races are second in cost, and not by much, to SCORE. We were going to race Safari, to save some money and have some other (non-cup) trucks to race with. This race is $1550 for Pro and $500 for Safari with no payback... and I think transponders are required for all participants, for safety reasons (etc).
Anyway, having said all of this, and given the promimity to the upcoming Primm and MDR races, etc... we (the Board) are in discussions about whether we should scrap this (V2R) race as a Cup race and allow racers to compete in EITHER Primm or the September MDR race. Obviously, we'd be splitting the money between to the two races... but several people have already said they want to race the Primm race, while several others have said they want to race the Sept. MDR race due to cost and location. This switch would allow anyone racing EITHER of the races to garnish cup points and relative monies... and not punish anyone, unless they are dead-set on racing V2R only because it's a cup race (I do not believe this is the case).
So - if this is what the board decides, that is what we will do. By the way, the points system rewards you for beating every other vehicle in our Class, so if 4 showed at Primm, and 4 showed at MDR, each winner would get the exact same points, and we could split the money accordingly.
Sorry for the long e-mail, but the Class 3 Cup is not in intensive care... just peeking out from down the hall, looking to see if the hot nurse has arrived with the medicine (I have no idea what that means! :D )

Your ideas make a lot of sense. All I have to say is why don't the hot nurses ever give the sponge bathes?

I see it as growing pains. :o
I mean its just starting to all take shape.
I doubt SCORE got it right right off the bat, heck remember when they changed the location of the baja 250 two weeks before the race?

I'm not bashing anyone so please don't get me wrong. I guess I'm just disapointed there isn't record numbers of class 3's lining up for every race.
With everything going on in my life I'll be lucky to even start my build this year, but when I do race I hope its with more than one other entry.

I'm working on it, but we're not ready yet. I feel the same way after what I have invested so far, I just hope others keep racing and building so when I am ready there will be someone to race.
