The roof is separated an inch or so between the two walls down the center of the Bronco cab. Do I need to just cut a big hole through the first wall to attach the cable, or do you guys have some other method?
Thanks.

I'm not familiar with how that brand mounts, but motorola NMO bases are designed to be installed through the top with a 9/16 or 5/8 hole, and the coax comes out of the mount at a 90*, so there's no reason to cut a huge hole in the inner layer, just enough to fish the coax through!
Tip #1 Use a uni-bit or other step drill bit, it won't wrinkle your sheetmetal like a two-flute bit.
Tip #2 Scuff the underside of the roof with sandpaper (or a dremel) to ensure a good ground.
Tip #3 Use a silicone grease (NOT silicone RTV) on the top of your roof under the o-ring in the mount to ensure a waterproof seal. (not critical for a racer, but necessary for a DD)

Thanks Dave. I already got it done...with the big hole method. Ha! It actually came out quite clean and for now it's all hidden anyway. The Antennex mount is 90dgr, but it's a post that feeds through the hole with a threaded washer to the outside. There was no way to feed it into a small hole.

Dave:
You forgot Tip #4 (my favorite, but probably one you wanted to keep secret): Go in through the interior light hole, and you don't have to mess with the headliner. Worked like a charm on the F350.
The 79 has that same roof support member that runs down the middle, front to back.
I run an Icom 2100 went through the light no problem.
