Lights! HID's vs LED's

I'm looking for some AUX light to place under my Mustangs Bumper.

1st off I'm wondering what options there are for such small lights.

Then I came upon some of these LED's.

Not that I wanted to spend that much for the lights. :rolleyes:

But whats brighter?
Or shall I refrase it?

What would allow you more night vision?

LED's or HID's?
These LED's claim to produce 2880 lumens.

Now I'm not sure what the heck that means but I know its a way of mesuring the lights output.
What would an HID of the same size probably put out?

These light are slightly too big for my application, but Its got me thinking about what I should consider in some new lights?

I think that those led lights are all 3watt bulbs, that is about the max on the current led. The tests that I have seen still give the nod to hid lights for long distance, the led lights just don't reach out quite as far as the hids. Led lights should offer far better bulb life, but the price is on them right now is nuts.
It looks like harbor freight has a small set of hids with external ballasts that would be about the perfect size for your mustang.
