I saw those and enjoyed those. Moss2 and I were there that year, and it was the first 1000 that we went to. It was also the last time I took a 2 wheel drive to Mexico! The pit area at Borrego looks exactly like it does today! The picture of the map reminded me of the route they took that year. We pre-ran the pine forest section, but did not go over the Summit, thank goodness! Going north of San Felipe, they ran on the east side of the hiway, not on the West side where Zoo road is, and we camped out there as the stragglers were coming through. The next day, when the race was over, we post-ran the section through Mikes over to San Telmo and the Pacific side. There were still cars stranded out there!
